Doesn't seem to be much online about Farwells. Are they a good machine to own?
Thanks for any replies.

Afraid I've never heard of one. I would say that with most of the small regional makes the important thing is- does it work and is the cabinet attractive?

I'm guessing not many people have heard of them?
There is one close by for $150.00.
Looks in good shape however he doesn't know if it works.

Re: Farwell Victrola
If the cabinet is unique like a Modernola, Sonora, or Puritan, it's worth $150. If it's a typical off brand upright with a ho-hum cabinet and generic mechanism, save your money for something else. This is only my opinion. If you really like it, my opinion doesn't matter. Stan

He already took the listing down..
But this was it.
I think it's pretty cool..
I'm guessing it don't work. He/she said they don't know if it works. I asked if they could crank it up and see. I got reply.
sooooo we'll see.

That is not a bad looking machine- plain but attractive and it appears to be very clean. The drop down record bins are very nice. If this works $150 would not be a bad price.

Re: Farwell Victrola
I actually just got home with it.
I have no idea where I will put it...but so glad I got it.
WOW what a beautiful player! I haven't seen very many players in person to compare too, but this is big and beautiful.
Larger then I thought it would be. The wood is in very good condition and I'm pretty sure it will play. I'm just letting it warm up from being outside for the drive.
I was going to try to play it there but I didn't want to get it wound up and try to travel with it if I couldn't get it to go. There is a "on/off" pull tab that looks a tad bent. I'd kind of like to take the top off and look at what the motor looks like before I try and crank it.
They were very nice folks and everything worked out very well. This player will be well loved!

Good Lord, it's gorgeous! This is textbook mission style at its finest. I love the flat top playing surface and record cabinet. Great save. I would love to see more pics. Would a video be in the works?

Re: Farwell Victrola
It does play
It sounds like it may need to be re-greased though.
When I wind it up it will make a spring snap sound when it starts to get slightly tight. I'm not sure if that's hurting the spring so I don't want to wind to much more then that.
I will post some pics of it when I get them going and I will also play it for ya on video.
In looking online, I'm guessing that Farwell is a bit like a Sears type store?
Sold lots of stuff. It also looks like Farwell made some motors for phonographs.
I found one advertizement from ages back that a company listed they had 5 players in the store to compare.
Farwell was one of them and the price compared to the Victrola.
I at first thought the Farwell was a Victrola name..but nope.
