Postmodern Jukebox

Post by DGPros »

Since most of us are listening to music from the jazz, blues and swing era, I thought you would get a kick out of "Postmodern Jukebox" Modern songs redone to the old styles. Let me know what you guys think. These are just a couple examples.

Reminds me of Big Daddy. Their (supposed) back story was that they were captured in the early part of the Viet Nam war and so they never learned to play and kind of post-1965-ish arrangement. They did "Purple Haze" in Buddy Holly's style, "Super Freak" a la The Everly Brothers, etc.

I always thought Haley Reinhart was great on American Idol and this style really fits her.

Here's a Big Daddy YouTube list: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp8MUGc ... TDlSHcLDOw

To embed a YouTube link, paste the link in your message. If necessary, change the link to http because https will not work. Also if need be, change youtu.be to youtube.com. Once you have done that, highlight the whole link, then press the "YouTube" button (right below the B, I, and u buttons).

Wow, what a talented bunch!
I have spent the last hour surfing their music.
Very refreshing to hear these songs in different styles.
I have new appreciation for many of them.

Thanks for posting this,
James.

You take the youtube video link from the address bar (not the one from the 'embed' option) and place it between two youtube tags.

There's a youtube button in your list of edit options that will place this --> in your text (or you could just type it).

Place your link between the two tags so it looks like this

(Double-click the video above or click this link to go to the video on YouTube.)

Then, remove the 's' from https:

I've only seen moments of A.I. but have to wonder HOW the hell she lost? Big Daddy's got that 50's stylings down. Glad you have been enjoying this, I know I am. Now let's give this a try

I didn't know what to think of that sad clown Puddles video at first but it definitively has grown on me. I've watched it half a dozen times now. :D
