Just saw this advertised on the Buffalo CL and
thought someone from the forum might be interested.
I have no connection with this ad, but it sure has
alot to offer, not sure if the price is reasonable
or not.
Good Luck

Doesn't seem like a bad price for what your getting. Triumph with repeater, O reproducer, wood cygnet horn, cylinder cabinet and cylinders. Of course a personal inspection would be in order.
That's if it's legit, this picture seems familiar.
Best Regards, Larry

it can be unfortunate at times how so many stories of cheap finds and hunts for incredible deals tend to cloud fair assessments of something's general value or worth... by no means is this cheap, but this sort of price seems more than reasonable - and would probably be higher even at a phono show - for a set-up like this... a nice and properly functioning 2/4 minute triumph with the repeater and O reproducer alone is worth, what, at least 1400 or 1500, maybe more... and with a wooden cygnet horn and crane... I've seen similar packages on that phonophan site going for well over 3000, 3500... and this one also has what appears to be a really nice, matching cylinder cabinet. I have two similar set-ups and when I've on occasion thought of selling one, that's pretty much the lowest number - 2750 - that I would have accepted for it.

Hello,
Brianu is right, this is good deal. The last Union show I attended was in 2012 and oak horn Triumphs with model B reproducers were selling for $2700/$2800. Add in an O reproducer( $400) a D repeater ( $600??) a cylinder cabinet ( $400) and then 200 cylinders at $3.00( $600) and it begins to look real good!

Might look into this ... it's VERY local - both my house & place of employment are on the same little map! I could walk there in 15 minutes. I'm surprised I don't know who's selling it, but I can't think of anyone. It would be nice to keep it 'local' - dealers have been mining Buffalo's antiques, even whole houses' worth of woodwork, windows & fixtures, for decades.

You should, it is a great deal IMO. My Triumph setup is identical to this one along with a Diamond B for BAs and it really can't be beat.

Does the repeater function properly in both 2- and 4- minute modes?
I'm thinking it would, but want to make sure...

Couldn't agree with you more. The Triumph is a real trooper, among the very least finicky cylinder machines ever made and with the large carriage, O & Diamond B reproducers sounds fantastic.OrthoSean wrote:You should, it is a great deal IMO. Except for a 160rpm 'bump' noise that I couldn't isolate, it has a beautiful sound. The horn does have flaws: one 'stave' is separating, but the gaps are small & between the staves, not through the grain; I might not even bother to have it fixed. Gooseneck has some missing paint & a pressed-out dent, but is otherwise decent. The collection of records appears to be from the original owner, so I will not separate it from the rest of the outfit. The cabinet is in pretty decent shape, with a rather dry finish, but nice. I'm just afraid it won't fit in my vehicle, as those stupid floor models are still lurking.
I need an intervention, but it's too late in this case. Most expensive thing I've ever bought, except for a few houses & 1 used car. Egads (I'm poor, and now poorer) .... Now to sneak it into the house !
