Is Anyone Making Gears For The Victor 10-50?
Got this Victrola out off Ebay recently. It has bad white metal problems. Does anyone make a replacement segment gear for these? Russie Ofria

Re: Is Anyone Making Gears For The Victor 10-50?
I know I personally would like to see a lot of responses to your question. I know that some people have put some effort into it, but no one currently does for all the pot-metal parts that I know of. Charlie Weatherbee use to make, some time ago, the 7 pot-metal part replacement kit for about $500. Also, there was a guy who was selling some replica lever type of handles (switch 10" to 12") on TMF and eBay at one point. I do know of a company making the gears of steel, that are suppose to be a nice pot-metal gear replacement. Info below, note that its $225 for just the gears.
FYI, I saw one member's super cool type-1 changer setup, outside of the cabinet, that used a RC (remote control) car's (toy sized) steel mini universal joint from its drive shaft to handle the job of 3 of those gears. If I remember correctly, he had a VE 8-60 or VE 9-40 type of air valve attached to the same type-1 changer. Though Victor never sold an Orthophonic Horn Radio/Phonograph-Changer combination, they appearly made the parts so they could hook up together to make such a machine.
Boston Gear:
Part No: HL147Y-G
Description: BEVEL GEAR, 20 DP, 20 PA, 2:1 R, 20 TEETH, STEEL $57.72ea
Part No: HL147Y-P
Description: BEVEL GEAR, 20 DP, 20 PA, 2:1 R, 10 TEETH, STEEL $45.29ea

Hey, thank you very much for that info, whoever you are. I'll try adapting those gears. I imagine several segment gears could be made from one full gear, so I'll probably have one or more left over. Russie Ofria

The Orthophonic Victrola 10-51 was an electric amplifier/automatic changer/orthophonic horn style machine. However, it used a different driver unit than the 8-60/9-40/etc. machines--one that has notorious pot metal problems.
