SOLD: Victor Ortho 4-7 Consolette - NJ, Wayne Delivery

Post by brianu »

I have an extremely nice Victor Orthophonic Consolette 4-7 that I'd like to sell. It's an exceptionally nice example, totally clean both inside and out... original mahogany finish, original grill cloth and turntable felt, clean motor, antique bronze hardware, correct orthophonic reproducer rebuilt just a year or two ago by Walt Somers. This plays perfectly and sounds superb. I'd like $475... I can bring this to the Wayne NJ show this month, or it can be picked up in southern NJ about 10 minutes outside center city Philadelphia. If you're interested, send me a message or email brianu73 at hotmail.

I'll snap some photos and post them later today or tonight.

Thanks,

Brian

I just found this photo on my phone, but it's the only one I have at the moment. I'll post some larger ones with higher resolution later.

Nice machine, brian. According to Paul Edie's site, it's this one: http://www.victor-victrola.com/4-7.htm
Not the Consolette: http://www.victor-victrola.com/4-3.htm

It's still nice!

woops. yes, you're right. sorry for the confusion... I've tended to think of these similarly styled models the same, as consolettes, but I think the 4-7, the model I have, is the improved version with the larger cabinet and the folded horn. thanks for pointing that out.

I would really like that if it were closer to Seattle or Portland

Is the tone-arm pot metal support bracket still intact? These usually start to crumble on the 4-7

yes, this one is completely intact and original. and I wouldn't say they're usually crumbled... I've seen as many of these pot metal overhanging orthophonic tonearm supports in perfect shape as I have in cracked if not broken condition. as you probably know, it really depends on the particular pot metal batch and, for example, how much zinc may have been mixed in.

The original pot-metal support in my VE 8-12 is also in excellent condition. ( and I'm not going to bother it, either ! ;) )
