Brunswick Panatrope

Post by billybob62 »

:( I am thinking of looking for a Brunswick Panatrope, possibly a 14-7 if it becomes available, and had a couple of questions about the tone arm and reproducer. I understand that they are nickle plated in this model but would the tone arm from the Cortez, for example, if it were available be able to be used in the 14-7?
Also, has anyone had any experience in rebuilding these? Are they as problematical as the Victor Orthophonics?
Thanks to all who can shed some light on this seldom discussed issue.

I think that the tone arms on the console/consolette acoustic Panatropes are all the same. I can't swear to it, as I have not tried to swap them out. I have one spare tone arm with excellent nickle plating that will, eventually, be installed on the Seville (which has quite a bit of wear on the plating).

The spare arm, the one on the Cortes, and the one on the Seville appear to be identical except for the finish.

Hopefully someone with actual experience here will chime in.
