yes, gum wood, and yes, that's how it should look. I used to have one in this style - they also came in mahogany - and have seen a few others just like it. this was more commonly referred to as the bungalow model. it's a good machine, and with the matching cabinet, that's a really nice set-up and - if legitimate - obviously an extremely good buy.

that needle cup, though, looks like a later addition, maybe for needles for a lateral adapter.

1) Not sure. Weren't these made from something called "gum wood"?

2) Maybe that's for your used diamonds?

Andreas
I've been wondering if the gum wood might have something to do with the strange variations I've noticed in the B 19's I've seen lately. Maybe the stains and the shellac the cabinet makers used didn't perform as well as it did for other varieties of wood?

Oh, and I believe this is the "Rouge" finish. I saw a "Naturel" finished one recently, and it looked pretty much like what we might call "Honey Pine" nowadays.

I'm pretty sure this is the "naturel" finish. The "rouge" finish looks like reddish mahogany.

Ahh, interesting, thanks!

Do you think these two might be the same color ("naturel") stain?:

Yes, those are both "naturel". Here's a link to a photo of the "rouge" version.

Thanks, it's nice seeing how dark the original "rouge" finish really was.

Good deal.....I would have bought that in a heartbeat just for the cabinet and sell off the machine, since I aleady have B-19.
