I've never heard of such a thing but I find them very interesting. I would love to find some for comparison. I also would be very interested in their wear characteristics compared to steel.

I must thank James for his excellent detective work and finding the wonderful 1918 ad. If anyone can find info....it's James.... ;).

After playing one about six times, I have not noticed any abnormal build up or anything out of the ordinary. They must wear, or they would not put these in a box of 200.

However, unlike normal needle tins....there is no stipulation "only play once" on the box.

Just an update on the performance of these glass needles. After three plays the end appears to become blunt. So, I would say they wear about the same as steel needles.

A nice find, never saw them before.....I don't think I would use them, I would just keep them for a nice display piece, one of those unusual phonograph curiosities.
