Thought I would try a record on the Brunswick Portable I got last year. It is the same as the first portable I ever owned. It didn't sound good and eventually I parted with it. This one sounds far better than my recording shows. Its a Harmony Record with the Manhattan Dance Makers:

A nice 1920s tune. That's a nice portable and it sounds fine, too.
It's hard to tell, but is the reproducer turned to the correct needle angle?
James.

Best portable I've ever had, and I prefer it far over the Victor Orthophonics. Only drawback: probably because the padding on the bottom has flattened over time, my knuckles hit the table when cranking; it needs to be at the edge or raised on something.
ps - "built ...by a world-famous music house..." I wonder if they meant themselves, or was it manufactured outside of Brunswick? hmm..
