You are spot on with your observation that the exact
pitch of a shaver feedscrew does not really matter much
as long as the travel per mandrel revolution is not very
far.
That is, because (as you already commented on) the shaver
cutter is so wide that it's bound to overlap for many
turns of the mandrel, resulting in a very shiny, flat,
smooth surface.
However, the original poster of this question did mention
using a shaver feedscrew so I was just putting out some
ideas about how someone might go about finding its
exact thread pitch, if for some reason they really wanted
to know.
