Probably a silly question.
Since I started collecting cylinder records, I have thrown away so many 2 min wax that were not playable due to chips, cracks, needle drops, mold etc. It seems a shame that there is no use for these or is there?

You might be able to make candles out of them...

I wouldn't... It made lots of toxic smoke when I tried. Yes, I'm that guy.

No candle making. I thought maybe they could be shaved down for recording( the ones that are not broken or cracked)?

Melt them over trout or green beans or whatever for a quiok and easy hollandaise sauce.
Edit : I was only kidding about the above advice. I wouldn't actually advise anyone to try this.

Someone needs to make Nipper molds to fill with melted cylinders... Little Black Nipper.

Re: Probably a silly question.
Generally, black wax cylinders are too hard for decent recording, and tend to wear down shaver blades and recording styli.phonogal wrote:No candle making. I thought maybe they could be shaved down for recording( the ones that are not broken or cracked)?

OK I'll continue to toss them. Just wanted to be sure.
