I tried playing a Pathé record with a worn fibte needle and was impressed with the sound quality and it turned the grooves from a musky gray to a dark black which I assume meant it cleaned out the grooves? So can you play Pathés or even diamond discs with a fribre needle?

Re: Fibre needles on Pathés or Edison's?
You might get away with doing that on a Pathé sapphire record, but of course a sapphire ball would be better. At 150 grooves per inch, the grooves on an Edison Diamond Disk are too fine to be played with a fibre needle.
