You're not supposed to carry the phonograph by the handle anyway. The handle is only there to make it easy to lift and replace the lid.

It is a good idea to never trust the handles anymore. The glue is old and brittle. I would love to see a pic of the repaired lid.

Once I convince myself that I did a decent enough job that the lid is worthy of being seen, I'll post pics. I promise. It's just a psychological thing.
