SOLD: Early VV 1-2 (Aladdin) w/ Rebuilt Exhib. - $325

Post by HisMastersVoice »

For sale is a very nice Victrola 1-2. The decals are mostly intact and the colors are vibrant. As with all of these, there is some paint loss but not nearly as much as most I've seen. I have oiled the motor, installed new turntable felt (it was missing) and rebuilt the Exhibition reproducer. Everything else has been left as found. It plays like a champ and is surprisingly LOUD for its size! I can ship this at the buyers expense or I can bring it with me to the Stanton auction this coming weekend (Saturday).

HMV is much too modest. He makes no mention how infrequently the 1-2 is found. I looked for years before I found one. That is one unusual little Victrola at a reasonable price. Jerry Blais

Somewhat O/T, I have to comment on that wall switch in the photos. My grandparents house down south, c. 1920+/-, had the exact same switches. Folks down there said "Mash the switch," or "Mash the button," and continued to do so long after the now-standard lever switch came in.

While I love the push button light switches, I'm so used to operating them, I often look like a monkey trying to turn lights on and off when I come across the lever type...guests have the same problem when visiting our house too :?

Thanks Jerry, it certainly is a cute little machine, every time I pass by it I'm tempted to keep it, especially since it's an early production example...but I know there are other members who would have a deeper appreciation for it than I do.

Where is that Victor logo hiding? I see it in the closeup but not elsewhere in the other pics of the machine.
