FOUND: Cheap, moldy cylinders

Post by winsleydale »

I am looking for some cylinders to do some recording on. Because I will be (chemically) shaving them, I have to say that I am not interested in A) Original brown wax, which should be saved for posterity; B) Rare copies or copies of historical significance, which should also be saved for posterity; C) 4-minute Amberols, because they are simply too fragile.

I'm not looking to spend a whole lot, I just need something to tide me over until I get some real blanks. If you have what I'm looking for and you want to get rid of it, I'm your guy. Shoot me a PM.

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: Thanks for all the help with this, Forum guys. I promise I'll get real blanks someday. :)

If Edison "Gold Moulds" ( Gold moldies ) are an option, I will check to see if I still have some.

A while back, I bought a lot from of e-bay that turned-out to be unplayable due to mold / pitting.

My usual MO is not to throw anything away...

I will see if they are still around.

Gold-molded is exactly what I had in mind.

I will check the morgue. Might take me a few days. ;)

Take as long as you need, lol. I have stricken a deal with another member already, but I like the idea of the harder cylinders so I will probably be needing more as time passes. I think I have devised a plan to mitigate the wear to my recording stylus, as well... Fingers crossed.
