Alright you guys are not going to believe this. I ended up purchasing the phonograph from the guy who put it on Craigslist for $115! He was actually a very kind and polite person and has a hobby of making furniture out of repurposed wood. I went to his house to pick it up this afternoon and everything on the phonograph is fine. Even the stylus!! I carefully examined it under a bright light with a jewelers loupe and it has a perfect smooth, conical tip like it should! The cabinet is just a little beat up but not bad at all. Only thing wrong with it is that it's missing the grille but I will buy a reproduction from Thomas Rutkowski (Gramps). Behind the record slats I found the Edison Diamond Disc operation manual too!

What an adventure! This is going to be a great story for many years to come! Being fairly new to the hobby myself (only about 5 years), it is always interesting to hear tales of collecting adventures from folks who have been collecting phonographs for many decades, and now you have this one to tell.
