Saw this last night and now all set to bid.
I was hoping this would not be advertised here. :D

Don't take our disenchantment personally PictureRoll. I'm sure there's plenty that appreciate your posting, even if to just watch the sale. I know I appreciate previous member's postings on ones that I hadn't seen that were for sale, that I ended up buying. I've struggled over this issue when posting links to items for sale myself.

A good-looking machine that'll only look better if it goes in the range it's in now. And it has the books, albeit in rough but restorable shape.

Funny, since it's been brought up here: I saw this on fleaBay a few days ago too, and thought of posting it here, but I too have mixed feelings about this subforum. I rarely post in it because I don't want to step on anyone's toes who might be "in negotiations", especially with regard to craigslist sales. I seem to remember a thread being posted about a certain VV-XVIII I had already arranged to buy. I got it, but seeing it here made me nervous.

It is what it is, though, I guess. Good luck to -- everyone!

I hope someone here got it!
I thought about having it shipped or taking the 16 hour ride, but decided against it.
Glad it was posted, if that lead to a forum member getting it!
Jerry, I too was kidding about the original post.
I think you have an 8-35 already, right?
I'd love to find a nice one a little closer to NJ.

How about a 7 hour drive to Montreal for a 8-36? and in Canadian dollars as well!

Or a VE-8-36 (a tad overpriced perhaps, but still CND funds)

That sure was. Twice that price would have good. Since This would not be my first one, I was only interested in a steal myself, so I stopped bidding at $450, though I was going to stop at $800. Figured I would be 2nd highest bidder in either case. Condition and distance considerations halted that. A year or two ago I paid $1000 in CO for the same complete setup in similar condition. Someone else there has been trying to sell the same for $1500 for a long time. As well is a newer listing for the same for $3500.

As far as the POST or NOT TO POST question... I think the pros and cons of thoughts on this subject go on like a close matched ping pong game. However, game point on the subject is that these machines get more appropriately priced. This is best for the phono community as a whole and the seller, who deserves a lot of credit in most cases, for their efforts and for the generations of efforts to make that machine available for those to come. Sometimes a buyer finds a steal and a seller loses his shirt, just like for that to be a rare occurrence, personally.
