Ed C-250 in the house

While not one to share many stories or picks that I have found, I thought this one was pretty cool. The seller only wanted $125 including 49 records (all but one in excellent condition), included two original keys, original manuals. It has been in storage since 1995 when the spring broke. Machine is in outstanding original condition except of course the spring which will be fixed soon.

The grain looks great in person and really stood out after a quick Kotton Kleanser rub down (back right half had not been cleaned when this pic was taken).

Unfortunately the seller had taken the mech mostly apart so it will be a project getting it back together. Does anyone have instructions for rebuilding a C-250 mechanism

Very nice grain on that cabinet, Scott!

As for the mechanism, it's pretty intuitive. If you have any questions, I'd recommend asking Fran!

Although if one spring is broken, it might be wise (according to conventional wisdom) to replace both. Opinions?

Diamond Disc motors are pretty simple. You should be able to figure out what goes where easily enough. If you need help, check ebay for pictures of these; they show up for sale from time to time.

Unless you are particularly strong, you probably don't want to do the springs yourself. They are much stronger and much harder to manipulate than Victor springs. I can also sell you springs and barrels removed from vintage machines, ready to be installed in yours. PM me if interested.

Congratulations! That's the cabinet that I need...

There is a manual here: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... ?f=2&t=476 , but it doesn't get very in depth for disassembly or major repair work.

I started writing an "improved" version of the manual earlier this year, but I've only gotten as far as removing the mechanism from the cabinet so far.

(I swear that I'll finish it!)
