Phonograph Display at steam tractor show

Post by Wes K »

Hi All,
At the Oklahoma Steam and Gas Engine Show this year we had an antiques display in the headquarters building. This is the second year it has been done. I brought several of my phonographs to display. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy.

Does anyone take any of their phonographs (or other antiques) to display at shows?

Here are two views of the main display to give an idea of how it looked

Looks like a great display.

Hi Wes, it is interesting that we both share this hobby, as well as vintage bridges. You know me by my name: Gene McCluney in Van Buren, Arkansas.

I always take a portable and a few jazz records when exhibiting a car at vintage rallies and shows. I shall be setting off within the hour to an event at our local pumping station, where the Victorian machinery has been preserved and will be in steam :

Thanks for the replies. Several of the antique car guys at the show like seeing the portables. The cylinder machines drew a bit of interest with the spectators. Unfortunately, I was unable to spend much time with the display to demonstrate, as I usually am in the Power House running our club's 100-ton Corliss engine.

Hi Gene. As you can see, I've been neglecting bridge hunting a bit to play catch-up on a few of my other interests!

Wes, I think you put on one heck of a great display. It must have taken some time to arrange everything.

I was hoping to see some steam tractors....

One question....you mention "bridge" collecting. Is that what I think..??. If so, where do you display those..??... :?.

I wish I could collect bridges, but since I can't, I take photographs of them, and put them up on my website: http://okbridges.wkinsler.com/

And by request, here some steam tractors:

Great idea to share our phonograph interests. It might spark some new collectors. Or, bring in some leads on a possible new acquisition.
