His Master's Voice or Pathé?

Post by 78monarch »

I have get a new portable gramophone. The model is French, and the label is His Master's Voice. Model name is 4047E. When I search the web, I only find Pathé with this model number. But the gramophone is the same as mine. Is there anyone out there who know anything about this gramophone.

Pathé was part of Columbia after 1931 and so therefore it became part of the wider EMI group following the merger of Columbia and HMV. Any Pathé product after this point in time is really just a French assembled EMI product, hence either the brand names of Pathé, HMV or Columbia were used to sell essentially very similar models.

In France, the "EMI" group was known as Pathé-Marconi.
