check out my new Edison Home D !!! (2 videos added on 2nd p)

Post by dennislpr »

Hello guys and gals, I just want to show you my new acquisition as always. I was able to acquire this Edison Home D here locally in Miami, Florida for a very good price, but the downfall was that it needed some major repairs. But thanks to three great guys I was able to complete this restoration project, Ron Sitko provided all the parts needed at a very reasonable price, Gregg Cline provided the best script decal I have ever seen, it takes a lot patience to install it because is so thin but it's worth it and last but not least Joe (Crank_it_up) provided a very good H reproducer for it. Here are some pictures of the machine, due to the camera flash it looks lighter. :D

Congratulations! :) The Home D is a nice machine, and your particular mandrel looks like new!

Now obtain a Model C reproducer and you'll be able to play almost any cylinder record you're likely to find. ;)

According to Frow, the Home Model D was introduced in October 1908 to play the new 4 minute Amberol records.

I would not repaint the horn if it were mine.

Please tell me you're kidding. The horn is very nice as it is. Messing with it will only decrease its value and charm. Honestly, it displays very well.

Martin

Very nice machine... I have a Home D as well... :)

Suggest you leave that horn alone. ;)

Like others, I suggest you leave the horn as-is (it is actually in very nice original condition).

My advice (for what it's worth): If you're really unhappy with it, sell it and purchase one in better condition. There are so many options available, that you will most likely find something that suits your taste better and ultimately make you very happy! :)
