Victor 4-3

Wonder if anyone can provide a photo of the motor board section of a Victor 4-3. Friend gave me a cabinet in great shape but the motor board and motor is missing. I have a few victor tone arms but the motor boards are slightly smaller. The original motor board measures about 14 inches and the reproducer arm holes do not match up with any of my meager spare parts. Just can't see the cabinet go to waste. The ID tag and decal are present. May be my final retirement project (why do I keep saying that ) thanks cheeers

Here is a picture of my VV-4-3. The tonearm back bracket is a reproduction from Ron Sitko. I think depending on your serial number it may or may not have had a back bracket. Based on the Victor Data Book, before serial number 5600 they did not have a back bracket and also used a 10" turntable. If yours has the newer style cabinet it should have a 12" turntable and tonearm with "overhang support" (back bracket).

I have a Canadian 4-3 which does NOT have the bracket on the tone arm.It has a 2 spring motor and a 12 inch turntable.

The 4-3 went through several changes during its life. IIRC, the first ones had a single spring motor and the later ones had 2 springs. Also, the tonearm support for a 4-3 is different than for other models.

I have a 4-3 I'm not particularly attached to that has a really beat up cabinet but a good motor. Contact me if you might want to work something out.

If you are close to Central Wisconsin, I would give you my VV 4-7 to restore. It sounds like your 4-3 is missing a lot of parts. I just don't have time anymore and maybe someone from the TMF can use it.

Thanks for all the input I'll pm several of you later. I took a photo of the motor board, judging by the holes it must have had the back bracket. The serial number is 152921. I have no idea what the speaker set up was, grill, etc., all that is missing as well. While I would like to rescue this machine the cost would surely exceed the value (worse than restoring an old car ). But guess I'll cost this out and see what I come up with. Again thanks for all the info. Any idea about all those holes? photo of the speaker grill and ducting? Cheers

I think Kevin's (52089) offer of combining the guts of his beat-up VV-4-3 with your nice cabinet might be an option to consider. Trying to find those parts separately on eBay etc would probably be too costly.

I have to agree with with Andreas. The cost of the parts alone would certainly out weight the final value of the machine. Kevin's offer is worth pursuing. He helped me out with parts for the one and only 4-3 I have restored.

Bill and I are in touch and hopefully we will be able to make one good machine from two beat up ones.

The funny thing is that I've found 3 different 4-3s around here in the last 2 years, and all 3 were different!

There is a 4-3 a couple of hours from me for free. I just haven't had the time to go and get it.

If you need a tone arm, there is one on eBay right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Orthoph ... 2518.l4276 It is not in pristine shape, but I have seen worse. The same seller has listed many 4-3 parts, so if there is something Kevin does not have, maybe this guy does.
