Exportation Reproducer
I received my VV-VIII and it came with what looked like an Exhibition reproducer, it is marked Exportation? What is an Exportation reproducer? I am thinking about trading it for an Exhibition?

Re: Exportation Reproducer
I think it's a European Exhibition clone. There were several different clones made by different companies I think. Patent litigation did not play a big role in the European phono business at that time.

The other common name on european clones is "EXPOSITION"
The soundbox on my Decca portable is an Exhibition clone - it is larger in size & has a different needle bar suspension, but the Exhibition rubber flange fits it perfectly.

If it were mine, I would keep it and enjoy the interesting knockoff. Jerry Blais

I have one of these as well... I always figured it was a british version of the exhibition. its downside is that, for rebuilding purposes, the rubber flange attaches to the back with three screws rather than two, as on the exhibition, so the available replacement flanges have to be modified to work.

I always thought a more appropriate name for a knock-off like that would be "Exploitation"

Lots of variations on this theme: Honda Excrement, Ford Exploder, and my favorite vehicle trim level, the Grand XS (a/k/a the NXS model).
