Pathé SPLATTER RECORDS

Post by briankeith »

What is the reason behind the multi-color records by Pathé? I recently found two full albums full of these is near mint condition and was just wondering if the splatter colors were just a Pathé sales gimmick ??

Yes it was just a Pathé sales gimmick to make record buyers take notice of them and want to buy them. but buyers didn't fall for the gimmick. How much do you want for them?

I'm keeping these as they all look un-played with original Pathé sleeves :D :D

This is the story I heard behind them.Pathé and Perfect mixed their record material in the same vat.Someone forgot to clean the vat,and that's where they got the splatter effect. My late friend Jerry Donnell told me that in 1934 a salesman told him that the reddish brown shellac records were made out of sweet potatoes!! The man was pulling Jerry's leg!edisonplayer

Could you please post a picture? I have never seen multi colored ones. Are they Pathé as well?

Thanks

Of course, I went looking for it today and it's nowhere to be seen. Did I imagine it? I don't think I did... :?

When I find it, I'll be sure to post a photo if nobody beats me to it.
