The three tubes are 35w4, 50c5, and 12av6.
35w4 is the rectifier which converts the incoming AC current to DC.
50c5 is the output tube.
12av6 is the amplifier.
I don't know too much about electronic theory but I know enough to be able to properly overhaul an old radio or amplifier.

Thanks for your help! Looks like i have my work cut out .Victrolaboy wrote:You can download the schematic from here: http://www.antiqueradioschematics.org/rca.htm
You have to select the model. Your changer is a 45-EY- 1.
Order capacitors from here: http://www.radioantiques.com/
Thank you Eric

Which tube in your opinion might be the culprit?Victrolaboy wrote:The three tubes are 35w4, 50c5, and 12av6.

I had one more question on which tube you suspect causing the distorted sound?Victrolaboy wrote:You're welcome!

Here's a website to help you identify and replace the capacitors.
--> http://www.antiqueradio.org/recap.htm
I wouldn't worry about the tube until after you've replaced ALL the electrolytic and
paper capacitors. At that point, if it's still causing you an issue you may be able to find
a radio hobbyist willing to check your tubes and resistors for you.
Replacing the Caps is usually all that's needed.

Victrolaboy & Mr. Grumpy,
Thanks for your help, i had ordered some new tubes and they were in route when i posted, so i went ahead and replaced them, same problem! I know it's not the right way to do the repair but i had a Donor machine and clipped out the capacitor that had battery acid leaking out of one end i used a good one from the Donor and the problem is gone. I will get all the caps and solder them in now ..But the main thing i want to say here is thanks for the help from both of you!!
Thanks Eric

No problem Eric.
It's usually a cap problem with these old tube sets, and it really isn't difficult to replace them.
I'm glad it worked out for you!
