WANTED: Puritan tone arm

Post by Phono-Phan »

I am hoping someone the this forum could help me with a Puritan tone arm. I am restoring an oak Puritan that has all four sides curved. I will be having the parts re-plated. But, the tone arm has a crack in it at the end where the swing arm attaches. I am looking for a very clean one. It doesn't have to be gold plated. I will be at the Union show with a booth in the main area just West of where Ron Sitko sets up. Please let me know if you have one available and your price.
Thanks,
Ken Brekke

Hello,
Could you post the measurements from screw hole to screw hole? I have a Puritan too that's missing its tone arm but am having trouble finding one the correct size.

Tom,
I have it buried on my truck right now. I am taking all my parts down to someone at the show that does plating. I will try to get the measurements for you at a later date. Can you measure the holes in the wood to get an idea what the tone arm base measurements would be?

It appears to be one of the common Heinemann arms.

I am still looking for a tone arm like this. I have sent mine to be re-plated but was warned that the crack might not survive the process. I will take my chances and keep searching for a replacement arm.

I have a nickel Heineman, it has some split in it, has not split any further in 20 years. It has a reproducer that says Artophone, You could probably fill in the small split and have it plated. Let me know if that would work for you.

Ken,
If I measure from screw hole to screw hole to create a triangle I get a Isosceles triangle with the measurements 2 ⅛ inches 2 2/8 inches and 2/8 inches. Here's a picture to describe what I mean: Image Does yours have the same measurements?
