This is taken from the April 1928 Edison Supplement and it certainly amused me. They're tired of the radio. But see how easily they can bring that old William and Mary upright completely up to date with Close Up Music!

What a great ad/cartoon. This must have worked with some folks, as I have found a couple of early Edison Disc Phonographs (e.g.: C-250) equipped with Edisonics.

Of COURSE it'll "run" - it's an Edison! Most of 'em still run NOW, even if they need some oil and grease. If any phonograph was ever over-engineered, it was the final design of the Diamond Disc (and maybe the 30-50-75 Amberolas) .
