I've got two VV-50's , both Canadian Berliner Gramophone machines ...Both Mahogany ....s/n 38608 & 37934 .....The 38608 has two Berliner Gramophone ID tags ...guess that they couldn't decide where they went...the 37934 is available at a reasonable offer , pick up in the Detroit area

Matt,
The sound box retaining clip is on the RIGHT rear side of the turntable on my example.

Well, well. And here I thought my little video would just be an interesting way to present two versions of a machine. This has turned out to be very educational. so much so, that I have now included a link to this thread in the video description.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments and all the additional information!

Interesting. Yet another slight difference.

Mine, with the cardboard needle box. Number 10304. The cast metal reflector makes it beastly heavy.

Just adding information to this thread. Here is the earliest of my two VV-50's s/n 2919. It was sold by a now defunct department store chain in Louisville, KY.

I like that KY dealer tag!!! I am a huge fan of dealer tags/markings... Here is my VV50 dealer marking for the thread record. Great machine, but may move on for the impending Credenza....

What a great thread. I'm hoping to get a VV-50 now that I have some more information from this.

It seems portables really started to come out after this.

I have five VV 50s So I need to break them out of storage to check them out plus two I am restoring. This is good information on the type one and two of the front crank model if I need to order parts... especially the IV motor for the earlier one
