Phonograph at a car show

Post by Phono-Phan »

I was at a car show tonight and decided to take along my Victor II and play some records. It drew a bit of attention and a possible lead on a bunch of radio record stock from the 40s and 50s and a horn machine. A lady came by and said she had all of her Dad's records he played on the radio and that her son has an old phonograph with a horn on it stored in the basement. I am hoping to get a look at the records and phonograph soon.

Congratulations, great set up. Always good when more people are exposed to the hobby. Is you car a Ford A? Fordor?

Hey Ken, this is what you should use to haul your phonographs to Union instead of your pickup. Just think of the attention you'd get in the parking lot, but remember no early sales.

Great picture.

Best Regards, Larry

Looking good Ken. Is that a 30 model Fordor? Man I didn't know you were into Model As also. I have a 29 Tudor and a 28 Roadster PU and we are possibly gaining a 31 Slant Windshield soon. We could have talked up Ford stuff at the show!

Sounds like a lot of Model A buffs on this forum. Here's my '28 Fordor.

That's NICE! Rose Beige & Seal Brown. Same as my Tudor except mine has Vermillion Red wheels. A friend of mine a few miles away has a Fordor just like yours. Isnt that a Briggs body? Here's a photo of my Roadster PU.

Yeah, it is a 1930 Model A Ford Town Sedan. I have had it for 7-8 years now. I also have a 1930 Rumble seat Coupe that I have had for over 30 years. I am also building a 1930 C-Cab panel delivery Model A Ford. UPS had them and I have pictures of other businesses with them. Of course, it will be logoed with the Nipper and phonograph on the side when it is done. It is a ways away from being completed but I do have the chassis done and need to build the body yet. I am patterning it after the one pictured here. I do plan on taking it to the Union show once completed.

That will look awesome when completed. Maybe Gregg Cline can make the HMV decal for the sides? That would be a feat!
