Peter,

I am beyond grateful for your efforts!
I do wish the best for Peter Wall regardless of the outcome.
People's lives and well-being are much more important than this hobby.

Best regards,

Gene

PeterF, I sent you a PM. This was posted in error.
I'm glad I'm not the only one having trouble with the repair. At this point, all I want back are the parts..

A few people have responded with the details of their missing items, and I have now discussed the matter with the other collector in detail.

We're working on it. It will be an extremely difficult task, and the chances of success are extremely thin.

But it's worth a try. There will probably only be one shot at it, so if you are one of the folks looking to get your stuff back and haven't sent me the details yet, please do so.

Here's an update...

The other collector friend has gently broached the topic with Peter, whose response was to reach out to at least a few of the folks waiting for him to complete various projects. However, he has subsequently missed at least one of the new completion dates.

The other collector feels that the visit to pick stuff up is ill advised right now. I'm about to leave on vacation, but plan to be the "bad cop" upon my return and press for a visit at that time.

Sorry to not have better news.

PeterF, thank you for the update. We're very fortunate for all of your efforts!

After waiting exactly one year, I am happy to report that I just received my brass reproducer back and it sounds great.

His work is among the best! I think a year is a long time, but happy you did get it back and it sounds great. Mr. Wall is one of the few that can really make these reproducers reach their full potential.

All the best!

As an additional update I talked with Peter mid last week for an hour. He has had some significant health issues and it was me that got behind with him. I sent him a good ortho reproducer that I could not get apart without breaking it-and much to his credit he told me he could not get it apart without damaging it either but he set me a nickel plated brass front and backing plate. I told him I was working with a platter that I have worked with on framing projects and he was going to plate all the parts from a newly acquired Credenza, and that we were going to try to match the original gold color- Two years later we still were not there-but closer at the 3 year mark we called it quits. I have nice gold matching parts close but not there in color. I had read comments here and just thought I would leave him alone-but in fact I owed him money and he still had the insides of the reproducer. I was also still trying to match the correct color of the back plate as the black had worn off in spots. Well its not paint. The more I played around with it the more I believed it was anodised. Well that's done and I called Peter just to see if I could get him-and we connected. I will be packing the parts of the reproducer up and sending it to him.

If I had gotten this to him sooner I would have had it back long ago-as someone said in the thread "life does get in the way"

Good heath, long life, and get these suckers done Peter!

Sounds like there have been great developments. I hope I have the same outcome.
I've been carrying a third (RCA) machine to my gigs as a backup, as one of my HMV 5B's has been temperamental. Carrying just my extra 5B with me would be great.
