Post by edisonplayer »

Has anyone ever given a presentation of antique phonographs for people? On July 3rd I played my Triumph E for the Art Walk at the Early Owego Antique Center.Among them were rare recordings of Marie Dressler singing "I'm Looking For An Angel",and Sophie Tucker singing"That Loving Two-Step Man",both on Edison 2 minute. Also,Bert Williams on a 2 minute Columbia singing"He's A Cousin Of Mine"I played "Fourth of July At Punkin Center""Stars and Stripes Forever"by Sousa's Band. These were Blue Amberols. Also on BA,"Let Us Not Forget"by Edison.Their website is earlyowegoantiquecenter.com

Yes. There are several threads on this site about doing that.

P.S. The "Yankee Trader" section is for people who want to buy and sell phono related items.

We demonstrated recording on cylinder and 78 at an Art Crawl in Nashville at the Arcade, and Jack White's Third Man, and United Record Pressing. I have given showings at two local museums, the LaSalle, and Bureau County Historical Societies. Bureau County Antique Club, The Grand opening of the Hume-Carnegie Library Mendota,Little Shop on the Prairie. A private museum in Dover IL. The Bureau County and Tri-County Fairs. The Pekin Bottle Collectors club, The Westerlow N.Y. Historical Society, Heartland Brewing Company in New York City, 79, 5th Ave New York (outside of where Edison's studio was.) Outside MTV studios in Times Square,Tompkins Square Park, The Cajun in New York City, Central Park, Washington Square Park. Guggenheim Museum NYC. Polygraphica De San Juan. Union IL at the show. Berklee College of Music Boston,Millikin University Decatur IL. The Princeton, IL public library, Buffalo Days, LaMoille IL. Bix Beiderbecke home in the Quad Cities. Century Guild (Chicago and L.A.) Just to name a small few. If you search back in the archives here, you will see some photos of the demonstrations. They include playing machines, lectures on the history, moulding and making blank cylinders, shaving, and recording them, using home and studio recorders, paper goods to read, listening to machines with listening tubes.
