How tough would it be to fix the carving on the front of the left leg?

The damage I can see doesn't look that bad, but it's hard to tell with CL photos. I would think that one of those molding kits you can buy would do the trick, cast one from another machine and stain the molded piece to match, apply some shellac and glue it on. I helped another collector do this with some pretty fancy 10-50 trim and when it was finished, you couldn't even tell.
