Anyone seen a long throat reproducer like this before?

It may be that i've misidentified this as a reproducer and it's actually a phonograph recorder....

That was my intuitive reaction.

I wonder what the purpose of those cords could be, and how the stylus bar was actually attached to the diaphragm.
