Interesting label - rca batwing?

Post by armyofquad »

Found a rather unusual record in my collection. I rescued a bunch of Caruso records from the trash and this Enrico Caruso Jr. record with an RCA batwing label was in the collection. Isn't that unexpected? I wouldn't expect a batwing label to have an RCA logo.

This was a custom recording he did that was recorded and pressed by Victor for the Collector's Record Shop in NYC, I don't have my books handy, but I believe this was around 1938. Victor pressed custom discs for anyone who would pay for them and this label turns up on many, Victor pressed IRCC and HRS discs often bear this same label.

An IRCC Victor label for comparison.

Enrico Caruso, Jr.? I need to do more research and reading.
Is this the label RCA uses for custom pressings?
I have some educational records with this label and some Glee Club records with this label.
