Strange Flange on Victor Exhibition

I have never seen a flange marked with a V like this. Has anyone else?

I have never seen a "V" in the flange like this. What is the serial number on the reproducer? Possibly a earlier reproducer flange?

It is serial number 42553 6. There is a space before the 6. Does that tell you anything? I can't prove it, but the reproducer is probably original to the machine.
