What is this horn?

I bought this a long time ago thinking it was some type of recording horn. Was I correct?

Well, it's certainly an early one. That flare is typical of horns from the 1890s.

Just an early phonograph horn. You certainly could use it for recording, but I wouldn't say it is intended for that sole purpose.
