Norman Bruderhofer of Berlin Phonowerks told me in an email something very exciting that is not general knowledge. He is hoping to soon release a new 8" Diamond Disc, for the first time in 86 years, probably of Mal Hallett's "Beale Street Blues" which is a very rare record. He has a few bugs to work out but is close to making an announcement.
I have given him a thumbs up for a purchase.

Re: POSSIBLE NEW DIAMOND DISC RELEASE!!
Is this a re release of a rare original Diamond disc. I would like to see something brand new on them, recorded either with an original diamond disc recording head, or a full range 20-20,000cps recorder.

This will be his first venture but I believe he has plans to do new recordings as well. Norman has produced cylinders up until now. I am very excited about it.

That is great! I would like to see some really rare titles available for the Edison Diamond Disc, particularly late issue 1927-1929 recordings.

I wonder how durable plastic resins are compared to the original Condensite varnish?

That's all I know about the subject.
Norman has been working on this for quite awhile but what they're made of, I don't know.
I will post here ASAP.

Re: POSSIBLE NEW DIAMOND DISC RELEASE!!
I plan on making some DD recordings in the near future, as well. I have a vertical disc recorder, I just need to find a way to jury-rig it to my DD machine for the feedscrew, and then make blanks. I will be recording mostly just songs that I like that are recent but that I want on record, so copyright laws would prevent me from distributing these, but perhaps I could lend out the masters if somebody asked nicely (for free of course)?? I plan to mold them in silicone, and pour the discs from epoxy resin. I was thinking of doing 10" and 12", for longer stuff (I have a specific 7 minute song in mind). Norm's 8" record sounds quaint and sort of cute as well, I like the idea.

Singin' in the Rain, Kansas City Kitty and Susianna, would all be great ideas for re-release.
