Not to go on about the locomotive. However, if you are lucky enough to find the bible on Climax locomotives....this rare 1960 book is the one to have. Only 2000 copy's were published and they sell for good money.
In the back, they give a history of almost every locomotive made by them.

That is an impressive machine...

The back-bracket and arm don't look like Columbia parts that I'm familiar with... I wonder if this is a Hawthorne & Sheble machine ?

My Climax has a double spring motor. It has the pesky fiber gear, which is still good. It runs smooth and quiet. This type of motor was used on the later outside horn machines and early Grafonolas. It is more powerful than the single spring machines. Like I said before, it is a well made, substantial machine.

Harvey, have you looked at the motor on your Climax. How does it compare with the single-barrel motors in the Columbian derivates? You note that the cases are better constructed. Are the motors of better quality, for example no fiber gear?

Don't believe it's Columbia. I'm pretty sure it's H&S family - similar to the Star phonograph I have.
