Mine has the gold felt like yours.

My 8-9 is No. 8201 and has green leather on the turntable for what it's worth...

Brandon,
Did yours have albums? Also, do you know of a source for a replacement green leather turntable pad? Long shot, I know, but my 8-35 could use a replacement.
Thanks!
Matt

From what I've read/been told, albums were optional on the 8-9 and not many people ordered them, though they would have just been standard albums, nothing special. As far as leather source, I've never had to replace it so I do not not. Both my 8-9 and 8-35 have the original green leather and my RE-45 has the original green leatherette.

No. The Voice of the Victor and the Victor letter to dealers announcing the machine specifically mentions the optional "Colorful, leather bound albums which add so much to the appearance of this Victrola."

Thank you! I have a few of the leatherette albums, but will eventually get something more appropriate to the machine. I love the look and sound of the machine and want to get it back to as close to what it would have been originally as possible. The original colorful leather bound Victor albums (like should have come with my VV 8-35) are quite expensive, but maybe someday I will find them. For now, I will attempt to purchase the reproduction spines for some albums and go from there.

I have a book that introduces the Orthophonic series and has specific records in the sleeves. Also a Brunswick Book that is printed with specific titles for the white label celebrity series.
