Edison DD diaphragm

Post by Phonoboy »

I made some new diaphragms, and would like to have someone on here test one.

Wow nice job! What all materials did you use to make it? Obviously cork and what else?

Several layers of rice paper, silk cord, and cork.

The diaphragm has found a home. Thank you for interest, now we wait for the results.

I think it did well, but you can be the judge.

It sure looks like the disc in your video is being worn by the stylus.

It may be, the stylus is worn. The disc was quite worn when I got it, and the reverse has a split across its radius, so I'm not to worried about it. Others would most likely have thrown it away, but I just can't bring myself to do that.

Ricepaper never ceases to amaze me. I have been experimenting on DD reproducers for over 15 years and rice paper always makes me happy with its *stock* sound.

It's pretty wild that all that sound can come from something as unassuming as a rice paper disk, or from mica.
That will forever blow my mind.
