What paint to use to repaint an Edison horn?

Post by JB Brown »

Hello,

I am planning to re-paint a black edison horn.

Just wondering what type of paint to use, I am planning to use a Krylon flat black or satin. What about the gold pinstripes?

Thanks,
JB

I use Krylon Gloss black fusion paint. It dries fast and smooth. For striping, I use 3-M ⅛" gold pin striping. This is the best and the adhesive works great and doesn't peel later. The other brands tend to peel after a few weeks.

I personally find the new black gloss paints look to "new", so I spray first with flat black and then re-coat with transparent high gloss. To me this comes closer to what a good original looks like.

Black lacquer seems to me to be the closest to original... it dries fast and smooth.
