Unusual Meltrope 111

Here is an unusual Meltrope 111. I have heard of a "chuck" variation but this is the first one I have seen. Unfortunately the diaphragm is a mess and the whole thing needs re-building.

I knew I had seen an ad for a Chuck Meltrope 111. I gave up looking for it and miraculously one of our Japanese friends just sent it to me. Thank you.
It's from page 12 of the book, "GRAMOPHONES Acoustic and Radio".
(Compiled by G. WILSON, published in 1932)
A different chuck than the ones I have.
Here also is the Meltrope sharpener with three different size of chuck for different thorn needles.

There are so many variations of the Meltrope 111, small changes and improvements made throughout it's production. I have one with a screw for fixing the diaphragm and the rest have a washered twist pin to secure the diaphragm ( a nightmare when it comes to replacing a diaphragm).
Then of course there are all the branded varieties.
