Edison School Phonograph Case Design

Post by coyote »

Along the line of many of us focusing on the subtle differences during a given phonograph's production, I noticed something odd while looking at photos of the rare Edison "School." It would seem that at least one example has raised panels on the front of the case with the design of the gear covers repeated on them, as opposed to the (expected) Edison script decal. Does anyone have any comment on this? These photos are not mine. I believe one the second one belongs to Rene.

Very interesting. I question if a machine would leave the factory without a decal. I've only seen a handful of School machines and never one with raised panels. Jerry Blais

I too would have to concur with Jerry. I have handled three school models over the years and none with raised panels or sans Edison decal.
I would question the validity of it.
