Holiday Photo of Gramophone!

Post by flashpanblue »

Hello,
My wife and I recently returned from a holiday in the U.K. I took this photo of a machine that I came across on our travels. The picture came out a little dark but lets see if anyone can guess where the machine is located.

Is it Highclere Castle, where Downton Abby is filmed?

Good try but no its not Highclere. However here is a picture of my wife and I at Highclere Castle. We took a tour of the place and it was really interesting!

I thought for sure some of our U.K forum members would have guessed the location of this machine. The machine is a 1904 Monarch Senior and is located in St Fagans Castle in Wales. Here is the information sheet on it.

The machine is believed to have been presented to Patti by The Gramophone Company. After her death it was purchased by a local man at the sale of Craig-Y-Nos Castle's contents in 1920, and his descendants donated it to the National Museum of Wales.

I posted a better picture of it in a previous thread on European Gramophone Stands.
