I received my copy of "Stomp off lets go" from Norman at Berlin Phonograph Works. This is a nice selection by Erskine Tate.
I can't seem to find any information for the original release on Edison Amberol. My neighbor came over when she heard the record playing and liked it, then not long after that the other neighbor came over and he liked it. I played it about 8 times last night on the Amberola 30.
Just waiting to see how the neighbors respond when I get "Mad Mama Blues" by Josie Miles.

The Tate recording of "Stomp Off, Let's Go!" Was originally issued on Vocalion, though is is most frequently found on the Brunswick Collector's Series reissue.Victrolacollector wrote:I received my copy of "Stomp off lets go" from Norman at Berlin Phonograph Works. The Erskine Tate Vendome Orchestra was a theater group which played the accompaniment to silent films at the Vendome theater on State Street. It gave steady work to a number of Chicago area jazz luminaries, including both Louis Armstrong and Freddie Keppard.

Nope. Chicago band which never travelled East. Unlike Victor, Columbia and Brunswick, Edison did not have a Western studio in the 1920's.Victrolacollector wrote:So the Erskine Tate version was not released on Edison Blue Amberol?

Among other things, I'm a big fan of old theaters. You can find a lot of information on this topic in the http://cinematreasures.org site. Here's what they have on the Vendome: http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/2104
And the bitter end: http://cinematreasures.org/photos/102590
Wish there were some photos of the interior. It sounds sumptuous.

Thanks for the info. I always enjoy some of the Chicago connection, as I live nearby. It is so great to have a cylinder of "Stomp Off Lets Go".
