Last post tonight, I promise. Here are a few pics of a repair in progress. I am NOT finished yet, but it shows another way this product can be used. I am trying to reconstruct a broken Sonora Elite grill. The pieces I had of the grill were put in place, then the missing pieces were constructed of the wood epox, and then old salvaged veneer was pieced into place, some filler used, and glued down. I still need to work on the finish, but it is coming along nicely.

I used to have a superb local craftsman who did cabinet work for me. When I bought my Credenza it had multiple problems, including termites having eaten holes in the front bottom plate. After fumigation, of course, he filled the damage areas with some sort of resin. I can't see where the repairs were made at all. Alas he has since moved to Italy so I can't ask him exactly what he used. It was a major loss to my area in that I don't know of anyone who even comes close to his skill level here.

Holy crap you can't even see where the filler was applied! I need to try some of that stuff!

This is what I need. Some kind hearted collector make a mold of the missing piece and send it to me.

Hello, Did you ever get the repair done? The reason I ask, I just relocated my cabinet ---like yours and can put polymer clay and make a mold of the side you need. Giving you the rest of the work to complete the repair. Sound OK to you?

Sugru is absolutely brilliant for making anything in rubber. I've used it for replacement feet, replacement insulating rings in the backs of soundboxes, and a whole host of other things. You just mould it to the shape you need, leave it overnight, and the next morning it has set into a hard rubber. The various colours can be mixed to get the shade you need. BUT, it is not suitable for making replacement parts like missing pieces of wood, as it will not take paint or varnishes, and will always be what it is meant to be - rubber!
