Edison late model attachment machine

I was looking at a book on phonographs at the antique store, the book included a machine that looked very similar to the Edison P-1 or P-2. The description said it was a prototype, it was basically a Edison suitcase portable with electric motor and tone arm which attached to a radio for amplification.

Would be nice to have one of them.

There were a few companies who offerred thos Record Player attachments here in the 'states n the 1920's, but they just did not all well for some reason. Odd enough when one considers the sheer number of 1929 model radio receivers which were fitted with phonograph inputs. That product was much more common in Europe. Dual made their name with a combination portable which use a motor which could be operated wither electrically or hand wound, and was fitted with both a mechanical reproduce and an internal horn and an electric pickup, so that when set up in the home one could play records electrically.

Thes attachments did not sell in any great numbers until the introduction of the RCA Victor R-93 in 1934 or 1935, which was marketed as part of a brilliant "Victor Record Club" promotion in which the record player was practically given away with the purchase of a number of records.
