I have also thought of using a rice paper type diaphragm in a Victor reproducer. I think the sound just might be more like a diamond disc?????

I had the same thought. I have a Vic #2 that might work, if I get around to it I'll share the results.
Should be interesting at least.

I think that a rice paper diaphragm (such as Edison's) may work in a Vic. #2 reproducer. I was thinking if it does, it may be a great way to play laterals on a DD machine with an adapter.

I've done it! With a few modifications I fitted my Vic #2 with an Edison diaphragm.

With cork, and in the same proportions as used for an Edison.
