Stratford, Canada: any "must-see" locations?

Post by Schlick »

Not sure where this should be posted, however... If you were in Stratford Canada for the weekend, what near by phonograph location would you be sure to see?

You'd be tracing the steps of Edison himself. As a young lad, he lodged and worked there as a telegraph operator. Downtown is where he rented rooms. I believe a plaque marks the building. Stratford is a beautiful town especially this time of year with the leaves changing.

Not a phonograph location, but there are a few nice antique shops just east in the town of Shakespeare.

Maybe you'll get lucky!

If you are crossing the border at Port Huron, be sure to visit the Edison Depot Museum. It is closed for the winter, but you can see where Edison worked as a boy selling papers and snacks on the train. It is right under the Blue Water Bridge to Canada. His parents and other family members are buried in the cemetery just north of that.
