"Largo" (Dvorak) Pipe Organ, Microphone Position Move.

Post by larryh »

I recorded a few more things today. In doing so for some reason I wondered if the reason the sound I get in the video play back wasn't quite what I was hearing here, or at least closer to it considering the tiny camera I am recording with. While the First selection ways playing l lowered my head to where the camera was sitting on a rickety tripod, sure enough as I got lower toward the camera I found a noticeable drop in tone and sound.. In playing back this organ selection for the first time tonight it seems like I have a bit more of the sound as heard while sitting in front of the machine in my wicker easy chair. In general that is why I prefer the console phonograph in my house due to the fact the edisons tend to send the sound upward from the horn. Having it lower as in the console set up is a great improvement but the camera as it was set up was just under the main path of the sound it seemed. Too bad it took over 500 videos for that to strike me.. No matter though since over the winter I may obtain a more concentrated microphone set up on a new camera which should improve the sound farther I hope.

Another great Edison DD recording! Thanks Larry! I see you are still being visited by Harvey!
